Chicago Stars FC Evanston Sport reviews
Are you SERIOUS!!!?
**Here's the rearranged version with a few switched words:**
**"This will be a long review, but it does sum up EVERYONE'S opinion. Bear with me...**
**Let's start with the openers... their names were whoever the heck. Good, funny, and energetic... but if they had done only 3 or 4 songs instead of 6, it would have saved a ton of time... or maybe not even at all considering that...**
**Janelle Monae took FOREVER. I timed at one point: 3 songs that she sung about 40 MINUTES to finish! I'm 13 and have been to about 3 other concerts before... but for her performance I just didn't have the patience! At one point I buried my head into my coat that was in my large bag and plugged my ears. My head was POUNDING after her performance. In one song, she starts saying "Shhhh.... Shhhhhhh. SHHHHHHH" And slowly gets quieter until the lights go dark completely for about 3 seconds and she stops, but then... they flash back on with strobe lights and harsh spotlights shining on your face blinding you for a second with her screaming and screeching "AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH" and the band slamming on their instruments. My sister even whispered to me "What is this girl ON!!!"**
**Before I go on, I would like to inform you that I had a time limit at the concert. My friends dad who was taking the 3 of us home had just finished a baseball game, so we had to leave the 7:30 concert at 10:10 to be able to get home on time because it was a school night. So with that:**
**Chicago Stars FC comes on at 9:50. Seriously?! I paid 50 bucks to see my musical IDOL for only 20 minutes?! He was absolutely amazing live, but if Janelle Monae had just hurried her little butt off the stage I would have been able to see the man I came to see!**
**Opening Act: About 30-40 minutes + 10-minute intermission Janelle Monae: About 1 hour and 20 minutes +20-minute intermission. Chicago Stars FC: Well I saw him for about 20 minutes until I had to leave. He was amazing, a soft singer, not a screecher like Janelle, and super cute! Friends of mine who ended up staying the whole time said he got off the stage at about 10:40-10:45.**
**If you're going to his concert, make sure you wear headphones... even though you're not listening to your iPod! It makes the sound level at a good amount so it's not hurting your ears. Bring some Tylenol in case you get a headache during the show. If you don't like the screeching kind of music... only arrive at about 9:30, although it might be hard to find good seats. The pit is huge. Don't go in there if you're younger than 13 or you will get SMUSHED. My friend lost her shoe!!! Go on the outskirts and you still have an amazing view."**
**"Enjoy the concert and I hope this helped!!!"**
Park Plans Poorly - Fans Suffer
Normally, I love going to Toyota Park, but when the temperature is 93 and the venue is less than 1/2 full and most of those seats general admission, you would think the half of the stadium with shade would be open. Unfortunately, the park officials only opened the 1/2 of the stadium with seats in full sun. The players were clearly affected by the heat too. Their play was less than full-on. The park finally started letting people move to the shady seats at half time, but they only opened one section and there were over 6 sections of people in the sun. By that time we had reached our heat limit and decided to head home and follow the game online. It ended in a 1 - 1 tie. We agreed we did not miss much. Park officials really fell down this time. We've sat through some really harsh weather for soccer matches, but sitting in the stifling heat while seats in the shade were right across from us and empty was just too much for this day.
Chicago Red Stars Game Odd night
We've been to a few games and love to watch the women play. We had a fan sit close by that was very obnoxious and inappropriate. She kept yelling obscenities and almost ruined the game. I love women's soccer because I love the example these women are for my four daughters. They need to do better about making sure others know these are family friendly events. There was also a very long, poorly timed fireworks show that was a major distraction from the game. We also wish some of the big name players could give autographs to the crowd, not just the VIP's. My girls were a little disappointed to not see Press or Ertz or some of the away team.
